Some shoots are more personal. This one was the most personal and tricky shoot I've had to do.
We had a space above our stairs that felt empty, like something was missing. I also had an A1 frame that I bought a few weeks previously, that was the wrong size for a different project. It was the spark needed to light my creative fire.
I had to consult my wife about what she would like here as I always need to consult her before these sorts of things. The spec she gave me was "Bright". That was it. So set about designing a unique, bright photo.
I wanted to make it personal and something that related to us. Then a bolt hit me whilst I was asleep. A unique twist on a family portrait. The elements that make our family. The guitar represents our love of music, the book, our love of reading, the coffee, our love of coffee and it being shot in nature to show our love of adventure.
The struggle was finding the right spot for this. So we went for a walk one Sunday to try and find it. We went through Weston Woods and after 3.5 miles, we found it.
The plan was for me to go that evening, during golden hour to capture the phot, however my son had other plans, acting up and refusing to go to bed. So I decided to go the next morning, however, it was too cloudy so I delayed again. A few days later, I had my time and place and after putting my son to bed, I had 35 minutes to get to the location and set up before the sun was too far over. Not much time but I managed it.

The end result is everything I had in my mind at the concepts inception. It now hangs proudly above the stairs, where I see it every morning.
